Since 1974,
Perstorp have been manufacturing caprolactone monomer and polymers at Warrington in the UK.
In beginning 2008 the specialty chamicals Group Perstorp acquired the
business from Solvay. The production plant in Warrington is the only such plant in Europe and supplies the global CAPA® business supported by regional storage locations.
MONOMER
CAPA® monomer is produced on a dedicated plant using technology based on hydrogen peroxide (see Chemistry section for further details). The process is a continuous operation and yields caprolactone monomer of very high purity because of the absence of organic solvents. In 1998, a second monomer plant of 15,000Mt/a (pictured below) was commissioned to provide customers with security of supply.

The majority of the monomer produced is used in the production of caprolactone polymers but
Perstorp do supply monomer in either drums or bulk tankers to customers around the world.
POLYOLS & THERMOPLASTICS
Perstorp produce a wide range of CAPA® polymers in two basic groups, high performance polyols for the polyurethane industry and thermoplastic grades for applications such as hot melt adhesives etc. Production is a batch process carried out on a number of plants at Warrington. The batch process adds flexibility in the range of polymer grades manufactured and also allows
Perstorp to offer custom products designed to meet specific customer needs.
CAPA® polyols are available in 200Kg drums, 1Mt IBC's (liquid grades only) and 20Mt heated bulk tanks. CAPA® thermoplastics are supplied as granules or powders of varying particle size with packing options of 20/25Kg paper sacks or 500Kg big bags.
