Spandex fibres produced by the reaction of a prepolymer and diamine chain extender use CAPA® polyols for some specialist products and applications. They are typically used in the manufacture of swimwear and support clothing.
The benefits provided by CAPA® products are:
- Lower power enabling higher usage levels.
- Excellent resistance to oxidative attack and particularly aqueous chlorine.
- Aliphatic polyester hence UV stable.
- Very good oil resistance.
- Narrow molecular weight distribution gives low viscosity polyol for ease of processing.
- Consistent controlled reactivity.
