A major area of use of CAPA® products is in the production of thermoplastic polyurethanes, TPU's, where the CAPA® soft segment normally represents the major proportion of the finished product. Typical end uses are:
- Airbags
- Seals and Gaskets
- Car Rub Strips
- Suspension Component Covers
- Dashboard Facing
- Cable Covering
- Tubes
- Adhesives
The benefits provided by CAPA® products are:
- Low viscosity polyols and TPU's aid processing.
- Very good hydrolytic stability when compared to other polyester polyols.
- Excellent tear strengths.
- Low compression set.
- Excellent low temperature flex properties when compared to other polyester polyols.
- Low density for a polyester.
- Polyester based TPU's easily painted.
- High abrasion resistance.
- Tight control of polydispersity hence shrinkage characteristics controlled accurately.
