CAPA for spearhead performance
Adhesives
Hot Melts

The combination of adhesion to difficult substrates and low melting temperature enables thermoplastic grades of CAPA® to be used in speciality hot melt adhesive applications. In particular, the low melting point and low melt viscosity combine to make CAPA® hot melts suitable for use with temperature sensitive substrates.

The growth in demand for reactive hot melts has also highlighted the versatility of CAPA® products where the functionality and molecular weights can be varied to maximise performance. Typical end uses are:

  • Shoe Counters
  • Reactive Hot Melts for Non-wovens
  • Binder for Non-wovens
  • Scatter Coat Interlining Adhesives

The benefits provided by CAPA® products are:

  • Excellent adhesion to leather and other difficult substrates.
  • Low temperature activation.
  • Reactivated by heat, no solvent needed
  • Biodegradable.
  • Non-toxic
  • Crystalline, rigid polymer with high elongation
  • Polar polyester easily pigmented or coloured
  • Compatible with wide range of polymers.
  • Hydroxyl groups allow sites for reaction.
  • Low melt viscosity allows ease of application and penetration into substrate.
  • Low Tg gives good low temperature performance.
